When Kim became a mom in 2003, she set her musical aspirations aside to raise her sons. However, music was always there for her, and she began making up songs for them. The living room became her stage and it was there where she wrote “The Run Song” for her toddlers, which became a fun song asking her boys to walk slow in a circle while anticipating when they could run, run, run, run, fast in a circle. They loved it! As time passed, Kim’s desire to perform her original music turned into four adult albums released over nine years while raising the boys. In addition, she launched several library programs for adults and children in her area, and the children’s sing-along program became the last one standing when library funding encountered challenges related to the economy. She has learned how to perform for kids and what music they love over this nine-year period. She resurrected “The Run Song” and composed a new song called “The Shaker Egg Song,” and off she went to sing for children as “Miss Kim” for local library programs to help children learn letter sounds in Hightstown.

When coronavirus hit in March of 2020, Kim knew it was time to change her life and finally do a children’s album.   Not only did she pen eleven great energetic songs, but she was super excited to embrace some great moral messages like dealing with emotions in “Colors of a Rainbow,” working on getting better at doing things like walking or catching a ball in “If You Want to Be Great,” along with the very catchy moral song, “Being Kind.” Both of her sons, teenagers at the time, contributed musically to the album, and Miss Kim released her first album, “Growing Up Great,” which won a 2020 NAPPA Award. Her growing “Miss Kim’s Children’s Music” YouTube Channel has been taking off with her viral videos, “The Shaker Egg Song” and “Thank You All Around the World,” and is one of hundreds of videos and vlogs on her channel. “Growing Up Creative” was released on January 31st, 2022. Her 2023 releases are a series of albums focused on educational ABC songs for preschoolers to learn their sounds. The first in this series, “ABCs Singing the Sounds,” won a 2022 Hot Diggity Award. In this ABC series of albums, she has released or will be releasing Singing the Sounds for vowels, short vowel sounds, beginning and ending consonant blends, vowel blends, triple blends, digraphs, and more. Teaming up with Angie Chirino from Miami, she also released an ABC pronunciation album in May 2023 called “ABC Cantemos los Sonidos,” and more Spanish phonics albums to follow. She has also created a learning video series with worksheets and activities called “ABCs Singing the Sounds Courses” now available for parents, pre-school elementary teachers and homeschoolers for learning the phonics sounds in a fun and musical way.

Miss Kim is also an award-winning 30-year veteran singer/songwriter who goes by her first artist name, Kim Yarson. Under Kim Yarson, she has won numerous awards, including second place winner of the Indie International Songwriting contest, has over 75 music placements in film and TV, 11 albums and 7 singles released, has sung in bands, works with disabled teens and adults, and sings for children. She graduated from Berklee College of Music summa cum laude with a Bachelor’s in Interdisciplinary Music Studies in May 2023. Kim Yarson believes her biggest accomplishment has been raising her two boys, who are now young men. “I feel that being home with my boys but also showing them that I was living out my dreams was inspiring to the boys. My son Joe, a full time musician, began teaching guitar at 15 and playing out at my gigs also attends Berklee. My other son, Thomas, is following in his dad’s footsteps, attending college for engineering. Music has always been a big part of my family and my children got to see me persevere over the years. Modeling perseverance, courage and innovation to my children is a gift I’m glad I could give them.”
